I have seen examples where the RelayCommand is lazy-initialized inside the public property. As RelayCommand construction is not a computationally intensive process, this seems like muddying the waters. There is no performance hit by constructing the RelayCommand before it is required, in the ViewModel s constructor. At least this way, future maintainers of the ViewModel will not be tricked into assuming that RelayCommand needs to be handled with kid gloves. One supporting argument for the lazy initialization is that it keeps the command declaration on its definition grouped.
